I decided to split the destinations between some photography spots for me and some points of interest for the family. Hearst Castle and the Monterey Bay Aquarium kept the husband and kids happy. Garrapata State Park kept me and my Canon happy. The first few nights we stayed at Moonstone Beach. And the last few nights were spent in Carmel by the Sea not far from the aquarium.

Weather played a major role in our activities. A major spring storm swept across most of California, bringing quite a bit of rain. My photography time was very limited, but I did manage to get a few good shots in. The most frustrating part was trying to photograph McWay Falls in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. The first attempt was at mid day. There was a light mist which turned into a down pour by the time I had my camera set up. I took some shots anyway. The second attempt was on our way home, also at mid day. This time the rain had stopped and I was able to get a decent shot for mid day.

I think perhaps my favorite shot of this trip was the Calli Lilies at sunset nestled in a small valley with a stream flowing out to the ocean.

My photography is focused around our family vacations. Since I don't get much time to myself, much of my photography is accomplished during our trips. Here is my entourage in Alabama Hills in the Eastern Sierra Nevada's. The family had a blast exploring this amazing place with it's unusual rock formations and arches.
